December 2025 Teacher of the Month

St. Monica is truly fortunate to have a teacher like Mr. Denzel. His passion for teaching inspires a love of learning in his students.  In our St. Monica community, our teachers are deeply valued for their dedication and commitment to the well-being and growth of each student, even in challenging times.
 
Mr. Denzel is commonly described as being “dedicated, skilled, brilliant, and positive.”  His students are genuinely excited to go to math class because he engages them with healthy competition, camaraderie, and fun math games like “trashketball.”  Many parents stated that he goes above and beyond for his students inside the classroom, but also outside the classroom.   For example, instead of attending the teacher’s luncheon, he was on the basketball court during recess with his students.  He also coaches one of the 6th grade girl basketball teams, further demonstrating his selfless, humble nature.
 
Many parents said that Mr. Denzel is a wonderful communicator who understands that each child learns differently.  He meets his students where they are and guides them through academic struggles with grace and positivity.   He has been said to instill accountability, responsibility, and confidence in his students every day.  His students have grown in their knowledge of mathematics, but also in their confidence in the subject matter.  He received votes from many parents, but even more students who simply call him “the best.”
